Connecting research with industrial deployment

Pilot-scale testing is a crucial step between laboratory research and industrial deployment. Testing under representative operating conditions helps identify challenges in scale-up and engineering operation, reducing technical risks ahead of demonstration and commercialization.

Scale-up and validation

Assess laboratory findings at an industrial scale and under representative operating conditions, examining combustion performance, pollutant emissions and operational adaptability.

System integration and optimization

Evaluate fuel supply, combustion and emissions control together to inform equipment design, process integration and operating strategies.

Technology transfer and commercialization

Validate technologies against industrial needs to support demonstrations and equipment development, translating research findings into solutions suitable for wider adoption.

Pilot research and testing capabilities

Applied research and pilot-scale experiments for greener fuel use in industrial burners, kilns, furnaces and boilers.

Industrial burners for hydrogen applications

Development and pilot-scale validation of high-power industrial-scale burners for hydrogen applications.

High-temperature ceramic kilns

Pilot-scale kiln experiments for high-temperature industrial ceramics.

Aluminum-processing furnaces

Pilot-scale furnace experiments to support the engineering application of low-carbon fuels in aluminum processing.

Coal boilers co-firing ammonia or hydrogen

Pilot-scale experiments on pulverized-coal boilers co-firing ammonia or hydrogen.

Supporting infrastructure

Ammonia, hydrogen and natural gas supply systems, an ammonia supply station and liquid ammonia vaporizer, a compressor room, gas distribution pipelines and an exhaust system support fuel delivery, combustion experiments and engineering validation.
