Today (20 January), Foshan Xianhu Laboratory was featured on the front page of People’s Daily!
On 20 January, the People’s Daily front-page story “United as One, Striving On: Party Members and Officials Study and Implement the Guiding Principles of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee” (《万众一心 接续奋斗——广大党员干部深入学习贯彻党的二十届四中全会精神》) presented the ammonia–hydrogen zero-carbon combustion technology for the ceramics industry developed by the Zero-Carbon Combustion Center of Foshan Xianhu Laboratory, which cuts carbon emissions from a ceramic production line by about 5,200 tonnes a year.
Excerpts from the article:
The key to studying and implementing the guiding principles of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee lies in gaining a deep understanding of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, getting the methods of thinking right and mastering the essential skills.
How can Foshan in Guangdong Province, a city known for traditional manufacturing, move towards the new? The answer lies in acting according to local conditions.
Traditional ceramic manufacturing is energy-intensive and highly polluting. Yet in the digital and intelligent demonstration workshop of Foshan’s Monalisa Group, the space is bright, spacious and clean, and a demonstration mass-production line using ammonia–hydrogen zero-carbon combustion technology for the ceramics industry runs efficiently. Developed and deployed by the company together with Foshan Xianhu Laboratory and others, the technology cuts carbon emissions from the ceramic production line by about 5,200 tonnes a year.
“Developing new quality productive forces does not simply mean abandoning the old in pursuit of the new. Driving the high-end, intelligent and green transformation of traditional industries is itself an important path to developing new quality productive forces,” said Wang Yong, Party Secretary of Nanhai District, Foshan. “We must seek truth from facts, build on existing strengths, empower industrial upgrading through scientific and technological innovation, and lay a solid foundation for a modern industrial system.”

Moving towards the new and acting according to local conditions, Foshan Xianhu Laboratory has worked with enterprises, focused on Foshan’s local pillar industries, sought truth from facts and pioneered innovation, charting a path of empowering industrial upgrading through scientific and technological innovation. It has explored a high-end, intelligent and green transformation for the energy-intensive, highly polluting traditional ceramics industry, continually turned the study of the Fourth Plenary Session’s guiding principles into concrete actions to support new quality productive forces in traditional industries, put the requirements of the 15th Five-Year Plan into practice by adhering to intelligent, green and integrated development and promoting the upgrading of key industries, and formed a “Foshan model” of industrial innovation led by scientific and technological innovation.
Previously, Foshan Xianhu Laboratory’s support for Foshan’s green transition was also covered by the CCTV-1 documentary series “Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains: China’s Answer” (《绿水青山中国答卷》) and by the CCTV-2 programme “Economic Half Hour” in “Setting Sail! 2026: Leading on New Tracks” (《启航!2026:新赛道“领跑”》), and was the subject of a feature report on People’s Daily Online, “From Millennium-Old Kiln Fires to Zero-Carbon Flames” (《从千年窑火到零碳火焰》).
