On 23 May 2026, Wang Fazhou, President of Wuhan University of Technology, led a delegation on a visit to Foshan Xianhu Laboratory to review and guide its work. The delegation toured the laboratory’s Zero-Carbon Combustion Technology Center and exhibition hall, and held discussions with laboratory leaders.

At the Zero-Carbon Combustion Technology Center, President Wang was briefed on the center’s research progress, platform development and commercialization. He affirmed the milestone results the laboratory has achieved by focusing on China’s carbon peaking and carbon neutrality strategy and on zero-carbon combustion technologies, and spoke highly of Academician Cheng Yibing’s team for its dedication to tackling research challenges and promoting technology deployment.

After hearing a report on the laboratory’s development, President Wang noted that, as an off-site research institution of the university and a Guangdong Provincial Laboratory, Foshan Xianhu Laboratory has made outstanding achievements in scientific research, talent development and serving the local economy. He hoped that Foshan Xianhu Laboratory and Wuhan University of Technology would make full use of their respective strengths to jointly tackle core technologies and translate research results, build a training base for high-level new-energy talent, and systematically advance the integrated development of education, science and technology, and talent.
